How to accelerate learning kitesurfing? Here are some of our tips to help you achieve kite independence faster!
- Wakeboarding
Knowing how to wakeboard greatly speeds up taking off with a kiteboard and facilitates controlling the kiteboard’s trajectory. Wakeboard and kitesurfing have very similar techniques for getting up out of the water, the difference being that instead of a kite, power is provided by a lift. We know from experience that students who know how to wakeboard can progress much faster on a kiteboard!
Wakeboard spots are scattered all over Poland and you will find at least a couple of facilities near every major city. It’s worth getting in a few practice sessions on the wake before you go kiting! - Training with a chamber kite
You can buy small training kites online or at Decathlon for as little as €100. First of all it’s a lot of fun, the kite doesn’t need much wind to stay in the air and most importantly it’s difficult to damage. Tutorials on how to operate them can easily be found on youtube.
People who’ve had a lot of contact with training chamber kites and are proficient in using them can learn much faster how to control the inflatable kites we use when kitesurfing! - Watching youtube tutorials
You can find plenty of youtube channels that perfectly describe the kiting technique and the kitesurfing training process. Watching instructional videos while visualising the actions performed can greatly accelerate kitesurfing progress. If you come to class prepared then you won’t be surprised and overwhelmed. Thanks to that you’ll have at least some idea of what you’re about to do!
Teaching standards are the same all over the world, so don’t worry about seeing something different on the internet than you’ll encounter in a class with a licensed instructor! - No worries
Remember, nowadays and with modern gear kitesurfing is a completely safe and easy sport for everybody. It’s not rocket science, although first impressions as with any new thing can be quite different 🙂 Take it easy and don’t give up! That’s the key to success!
